Science Comedy Night
Science Comedy Night
Science Comedy Night is back with comedians, experts, and people who still Google their symptoms at 2 a.m. for an evening of jokes with a health science twist. Expect sharp stand-up, strange medical facts from across the animal kingdom, and enough humor to make your high school biology teacher proud—or deeply concerned.
Performers include headliner Ben Miller (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, NY Comedy Festival), Kasha Patel (founder of DC Science Comedy, NPR), and some surprise guests. The show will include an unhinged Q&A with a licensed medical professional who will answer audience questions.
Side effects may include sore (face) cheeks, elevated heart rate, sudden (legal) snorting, and an uncontrollable urge to say, “Actually, that’s fascinating.”
Anyone with a body and brain can enjoy this show, regardless of scientific background. Book your tickets before they become statistically unavailable.
Warning: this event has not been approved by the FDA, peer-reviewed, or shown to improve long-term survival—but it may cause acute laughter and temporary faith in humanity.
About Ben Miller: Ben Miller is an NYC based scientist turned comedian who has been working for the past 10 years at comedy clubs, museums and volcanoes across the world. In 2022, Ben Miller's debut hour, Stand-Up Science, had a completely sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and toured 50+ cities internationally. In 2023, he was an Artist in Residence at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, the first stand-up comedian ever selected by the National Parks Arts Foundation. This year, he is bringing his latest hilarious special on all things health science.
About DC Science Comedy: DC Science Comedy is a comedy production company founded and hosted by journalist and stand-up comedian Kasha Patel, who also travels around the country for solo science comedy performances. Patel has traveled around the country with the show and has been featured on NPR, TED, BBC, and The Washington Post. The goal of our shows is to entertain - no science background necessary, although be warned that you may walk away learning a new science fact or two.
